We grow and sell fresh produce on our smallholding using natural techniques as recommended by Organic standards. As demand has grown for our produce we have realised that coming together with other growers we can increase the range and volume of food that we can supply and can support small businesses from around the region.
This provides a valuable local service to our community. We are delighted to be able to offer these growers outlets for their premium quality produce and to increase the amount of local food supplied.
Our growers and suppliers in 2013:
Good & Green, Carrowbaun, Ogonelloe
Jim Cronin, Ballyknavin, Bridgetown
Martin Keon, Ballybrohan, Ogonelloe
Ute Krewer, Poulnataggle eggs, Gort
Con Traas, The Apple Farm, Cahir, Co Tipperary
Philip Draper, Coolnagrower, Birr, Co Offaly
Tony Garahy, Lough Boora Farm, Co Offaly
In effect our small business contributes directly to supporting at least 7 other small businesses.
At times when core produce is not ready to harvest locally (eg. ‘the hungry gap’ in May/June when local root veg are scarce and tomatoes are not yet ready) we sometimes buy in from an organic importer. We only buy EU certified organic produce.
The origin is clearly marked for any non local produce.
